About Us
“I want to have an orphanage when I grow up, and adopt all of the childrenâ€
This is what our founder, Cindra Zugal, told her sister when she was only four years old. Her passion evolved into a lifetime of work with children in her local communities and around the globe. While working in infant and childhood development and fostering/adopting children in Washington state, Cindra also spent time in traditional orphanages in Africa. She is now poised to live her dream and has built a network of experts in Tanzania and the US that have the resources and contacts to expedite her vision.
Our Focus
Cindra has seen the lack of specialized resources and caregiving for infants and newborns in Tanzania, so the village will specialize in working with the youngest of orphans. The orphanage will work with children ranging from 0 to 17 years, but will initially focus on premature and newborns (the most vulnerable of all the children ). Elephant Path’s Infant and Children’s Village will become their childhood home and help them grow from the beginning of their lives through early adulthood.
Our Name: Elephant Path Infant and Children’s Village
Our board named this orphanage, Elephant Path, in tribute to the loving and protective nature of the African elephant. We admire their supportive nurturing and long-term care of their young.
